More details have surfaced regarding the severe beating of Aretha Franklin’s middle-aged son.

As previously reported, Eddie Franklin, 52, was assaulted by three people Monday night at a gas station in Detroit, according to a statement released early Tuesday by Aretha’s rep Gwendolyn Quinn.

The Detroit News is now reporting that the suspects were two men and a woman who appeared to be about 19 years old. All three were African American and one of the men had dreadlocks.

An unidentified person at the station, located near Plymouth and Evergreen, took Franklin to an area hospital and then filed a police report, according to authorities.

Aretha Franklin, 68, who had Eddie when she was 16, is one of the most decorated singers of all time, having won 20 Grammy Awards.
