According to the Constitution, any child born on US soil is automatically an American citizen. But President Trump is looking into signing an executive order that would end that right for any baby born to non-citizens and undocumented aliens.
Speaking to “Axios on HBO” for an interview that will air Sunday, Trump quips in a clip shared Tuesday morning, “It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don’t.”
It’s likely that the order would trigger a court battle on whether the President can make such a change when the right exists as part of the 14th Amendment
Trump says White House lawyers are currently reviewing his proposal.
Do you see this becoming an election issue? Should the President be able to change the Constitution on his own? How do you see the court battle playing out?
