A white woman in San Francisco called the police on an 8-year-old black girl who was selling bottled water in front of the apartment building she lives in with her mother. While on the phone with the police the woman accuses the child of ‘illegally selling water without a permit’. The woman’s name is Alison Ettel and she spoke with the HuffPost later in the day. She claims that race played no part in the incident and that she was only pretending to call the cops. She also claims that the real reason she called the police was because of a noise issue and that it had nothing to do with the little girl personally. She also claims the incident has left her feeling horrible.
The internet has since began the hashtag, #PermitPatty, in reference to incident. If you recall, a few weeks back, a woman was given the hashtage #bbqbecky for calling the police on a black family for barbecuing in a public park in Oakland.
