Starbucks will close 8,000 of it’s doors early on Tuesday, May 29th to conduct racial-bias education training, with their employees. This training comes after the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia Starbucks. The men were arrested for using the bathroom, as non-paying customers. The training will be to ‘reconnect with our mission and share ideas about how to make Starbucks even more welcoming’, according to signage at one Chicago location.

“The company’s founding values are based on humanity and inclusion,” said Howard Schultz, Starbucks executive chairman, back in April. “We will learn from our mistakes and reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for every customer.”

Many locations will close at 2pm, other independent stores, like those on college campuses will remain open but will receive educational training materials.
