Students from Charles W. Henry Elementary School in the Mount Airy section were on board a charter bus on their way to a field trip in Washington, D.C. when their bus crashed on Interstate 95 in Maryland this morning, leaving 25 people injured.

According to 6ABC:

“There were 26 eighth-grade students, two staff members, one parent chaperone and one driver on board, school officials said. All have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Rescuers say two critically injured patients were flown to hospitals. That includes one adult and one child. That child was taken to the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.

Superintendent William Hite said at a news conference that one teacher was taken to a trauma center in Baltimore.”

Parents of C.W. Henry students are encouraged to call 215-400-5858 for more information.
