Greg Anthony

CBS Basketball analyst and former NBA star Greg Anthony was arrested and charged with soliciting a prostitute in a Washington, D.C. hotel room Friday night. According to the Associated Press, Anthony was busted inside a room at the Doubletree Hotel in the downtown D.C. area right before 6 PM. The Metropolitan Police Department report claims Anthony was suspected of using a computer to plan his dalliance with “a lady of the evening” (that’s oldschool for hooker) and his arrest was all part of an undercover sting operation involving prostitution. Anthony was released after posting bail. Once news broke about his arrest, a CBS spokesperson announced Anthony was suspended indefinitely and released a statement saying:

Greg Anthony will not be working again for CBS this season.

Turner Sports, who Anthony works for as well also suspended him and had no comment on his arrest. Dang suspended from both jobs in one day? Following his arrest, Anthony released a statement on Saturday apologizing to his wife, family and colleagues surrounding the incident. Anthony stated:

I made a mistake. With this lapse of judgment, I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying that I am sorry.

Wonder how this conversation will go down at home.. Anthony began his NBA career in 1991 and played 11 seasons with six teams including, the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers. He retired in 2002, and in 2008 joined CBS as an analyst covering college basketball. His arraignment is set for Feb. 3 and if convicted faces up to 180 days in jail.
