We all know breaking up is hard to do. According to statistics, more people learn that the hard way in January. More people decide to end relationships this month than any other time of the year.

Why do more couples pick the first month of the year to call it quits? One theory is that people who wanted to breakup back in October might have been holding out until the holidays were over. Now that they are, all seems to be fair in love and war in January. Another reason for the spike in splits could be the tendency for people to reflect on their lives and be more introspective than usual at the beginning of the year. For some, a new year means a new slate and their relationships just don’t fit with their resolutions for 2013.
