PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Tuesday’s severe thunderstorms left many area residents cleaning up and in the dark.
Delaware, particularly between Newark and Claymont, appeared to be the hardest hit by the storm, with numerous reports of wires and trees down, flooding, and damage to cars and houses. And according to Delmarva, an estimated 19,000 customers in New Castle County were without power.
PECO reported no outages as a result of the storm, and in New Jersey, Atlantic Electric reported 3300 customers without power. Most of these outages were in the Pennsville area, though some were also in Swedesboro and Glassboro.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Philadelphia International Airport was reporting delays of up to 45 minutes, but by 3 p.m., there were only a handful of delays on the flight schedule.
Meanwhile, SEPTA’s Wilmington/Newark regional rail line is delayed up to one hour. The Route 101 Media trolley is terminating service at Woodland Ave. due to flooding, and the Route 102 Sharon Hill trolley is terminating at McDade Ave. for the same reason. Shuttle buses will be used for both lines.
There are no reported injuries or fatalities due to the storms at this time.
