Good think there wasn’t an emergency or anything…
AMITY TOWNSHIP, Pa. – July 29, 2011 (WPVI) — Police say a Pottstown woman was rescued roughly 15 hours after crashing her car along a wooded road in Berks County.
According to Amity Township Police Chief Kent A. Shuebrook, the woman is identified as 24-year-old Yesenia Washburn. She is currently listed in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Investigators say the accident happened around midnight Thursday morning on the 300 block of East Ben Franklin Highway (east 422) in Birdsboro.
Mr. Kim Pecal, a resident that lives nearby the accident scene, reported hearing a loud noise around the time of the accident, but did not pay any mind.
Hours later Pecal left for work but when he returned home in the afternoon he noticed a sign was missing from the highway and saw tire tracks on the grass. He decided to pull over and investigate. At that point, he noticed a car about 120 feet into the woods partially on its roof on the driver side.
Pecal had his wife call the police.
Police received the call 2:46 p.m. – about 15 hours after they believe the accident happened.
Lt. Robert Kline, a local firefighter of the Monarch Fire Department, was first on the scene. Kline and Pecal were the ones who found the driver, later identified as Washburn, about 70 feet from her car. It is not clear if she was ejected from the car or if she climbed out of the car.
Police are continuing their investigation.
