A 6-year-old boy was killed Wednesday in a swimming pool accident at a Pennsylvania amusement park.

According to a statement released by Knoebels Amusement Park, on Wednesday afternoon a boy was killed after jumping into a pool at the Knoebels Crystal Pool, located in Elysburg, Northumberland County.

Lifeguards found the boy under water, pulled him from the pool and attempted to resuscitate the child by performing CPR. He was then transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville where he later died. His identity has not yet been released.

Knoebels says in a statement that initial reports were that the boy had hit his head, but that turned not to be true.
