Ali Ollie Woodson

*For all of those who missed singer Ali Ollie Woodson’s funeral, EUR has learned that will be shown over the air via Eric Chamber’s Jazzspel TV show on the Word Network and online at http://www.TheWordNetwork.org.

Recorded on-location last week at the City of Refuge Church in Gardena, CA, the farewell tribute features highlights from the service including words from family members and friends such as Magic Johnson, Howard Hewett, Darryl “Diamond D” Jarvis, Lawrence Hilton Jacobs and Bishop Noel Jones among others. It also features a beautiful tribute from Aretha Franklin.

“I first met Ollie in 1995 when I moved to Hollywood and he appeared on my TV show on a couple of occasions, says Chambers,” who hosts and executive produces the “Jazzspel TV” show. “He was always such a nice and giving guy, not to mention super talented as a singer! After his passing was virtually unnoticed by my ‘mainstream media’ counterparts, I decided someone needed to be there to tell the story. So, I said, ‘Send me Lord. I’ll go.’ It turned out I was the only TV media present covering the service.”

Chambers says the special show will run today (06-12-10) and next Saturday (06-19-10) at 1:30PM PST (4:30PM EST) on the Word Network available in over 65 million US homes via DirecTV (Ch. 373), AT&T U-Verse (ch. 575), Verizon’s FIOS (Ch. 292) and cable. Check your local cable listings.

If you don’t have access to Word Network via TV, visit http://www.TheWordNetwork.org to view the show online.

Chambers reminds that the coverage begins at The City of Refuge Church in Gardena, California and ends at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA where Woodson was laid to rest in a “beautiful location under a huge shade tree overlooking the San Fernando Valley.” This park is also the final resting place for such noted stars as Lou Rawls, Sammie Davis, Jr. and Michael Jackson.
