JAY-Z JOINS RIHANNA ONSTAGE IN LONDON: Duo performs ‘Run This Town’ and ‘Umbrella’ at Brixton Academy; plus, rapper cancels remaining 2009 tour dates.
(November 18, 2009)Email to a friend | Print Friendly Buzz up! *Jay-Z took the stage with Rihanna Monday night for the grand finale of a London promo concert for her new album “Rated R,” due worldwide Nov. 23.
The singer and her mentor performed “Run This Town” and “Umbrella” at London’s Brixton Academy, a show streamed live online by Nokia. RiRi also sang new tracks “Mad House,” “Wait Your Turn” and lead single “Russian Roulette,” currently No. 9 on Billboard’s Hot 100, before being joined by Young Jeezy on another album track, “Hard.”
The R&B star – sporting at studded leotard and backed by a full rock band – also gave the audience such previous hits as “Don’t Stop the Music,” “Take a Bow,” “Disturbia” and “Live Your Life.”
Nokia streamed the event around the world at http://www.nokia.com/rihanna and will also offer an exclusive version of “Rated R” via its Nokia Music Store, reports Billboard.
Jay-Z, meanwhile, has cancelled the remainder of his 2009 tour dates and added extra shows in 2010 in support of his latest studio set, “The Blueprint 3.”
Upcoming shows in Lubbock, TX (11/17); Albuquerque, NM (11/19) and El Paso, TX (11/20), have all been canceled due to an “unforeseen scheduling conflict,” according to concert promoter Live Nation. Refunds for the shows will be made available immediately at the point of purchase.
He earlier moved a Nov. 22 show in Austin, TX, up to Nov. 10 in order to make a live appearance at the 2009 American Music Awards, which is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on the same day as the original Austin date.
The early 2010 leg of the performer’s “BP3” tour continues to gather steam, however, with a handful of fresh dates recently added to an already full-sized schedule. The tour is currently set to kick off Feb. 20 in Sunrise, FL, and will hit 17 cities through late March. Dates are below.
